The Role of Government
Government has one overriding goal--to maintain and enhance the quality of our lives. This is accomplished in a variety of ways--by protecting our safety, helping those with special needs (the sick, the poor, the disabled, the elderly), by enhancing the economy, and by preserving our natural environment. I would like to offer some thoughts on each of these, as well as on the county organization itself.
The thoughts in this section are the product of my own observations, based on 18 years of observing local government in action, my three-plus years of service in that government, the concerns and opinions I've heard voiced in the community.
